Maria Vera Leon’s most inspirational moments as a physician assistant occur when she has a positive impact on a patient. Because she takes the time to listen and talk with her patients, Maria cherishes those relationships and values the trust patients have in her. She enjoys educating her patients; being their advocate during times of struggle, and helping her patients improve their health.
Maria takes to heart the advice she gives her patients to stay active, eat healthy, have a creative outlet and do something that makes them happy. For her that means almost anything outdoors, including hiking, gardening and swimming, especially when it’s done with family, friends and, of course, her dogs. She loves spending time baking with her younger brother; she finds joy in decorating her house and pleasure in cooking a good meal. And she loves to let her creative-self shine through photography and crafts.
For as long as Maria can remember, she wanted a career as a health care provider. While working as a medical assistant at a small medical clinic, she saw first-hand the difference that physician assistants can make in the lives of their patients and the impact they can have on their community. It was then that Maria decided she would pursue a role that would enable her to concentrate on patient wellness.
Maria joins P3 Medical Group with experience in pediatrics, family medicine, behavioral medicine general surgery, emergency medicine, internal medicine and cardiology. She excels in collaborative care with a team of medical professional advocating for patient well-being. She holds a Master of Science-Physician Assistant Studies from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and a Bachelor of Biology/Pre-Med from University of Nevada Las Vegas.
